Bulldog Country Kennels is a small family owned and operated American Pit Bull Terrier Kennel located in rural south Kansas. Our goal is to produce quality American Pit Bull Terriers that conform to all areas of the breed standard.
The American Pit Bull Terrier is an intelligent breed, with strong drive, a stable temperament, and a gentle nature towards humans. The American Pit Bull Terrier is a beautiful and athletic animal in his true form.
All of our dogs are from top bloodlines and every breeding we do is carefully planned months and sometimes years in advance.
We do only a couple of select breedings a year. The foundations for our breeding program are Chinaman, Frisco, and Eli.
All of our dogs and pups receive the best of care. A dog can only reach his full potential when properly cared for. A dog's environment and interaction with people has a major impact on his mental and physical condition.
Our kennels have concrete or gravel flooring which are cleaned daily and disinfected with a hospital grade disinfectant weekly to kill any bacteria so our dogs are always housed in clean, comfortable living conditions. Chain spaces provide more area for the dogs than what most kennel runs provide, allowing high energy dogs to move around comfortably. Our chain spaces have a minimum of 314 sq. ft. of space. We use high quality collars and hardware. The dog houses have wheat straw, grass hay, or wood shavings for bedding. Dogs kept in chain spaces are also allowed time to exercise off the chain.
We use stainless steel feed pans which are easily cleaned and do not hold bacteria as porous plastic does.
Water tubs are scrubbed weekly to prevent build up of alge and bacteria.
Our dogs and pups are kept on a proper vaccination schedule and are dewormed monthly. All pups receive monthly dewormer, and a minimum of one 5-way vaccine, one 7-way vaccine, and one bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine prior to leaving our kennel for their new homes. Since we keep a small yard and only do a few select breedings a year, some litters are whelped and raised for the first few weeks of their lives in the house which allows us to closely monitor young pups. This also allows for extra human socialization which builds a strong bond with people. We also have large brood pens with heating pads in the whelping houses for when litters are whelped and raised outdoors. We often utilize welded wire runs on concrete surfaces with heated whelping houses for this purpose
Play Time
Our pups are given daily socialization and play time. Daily interaction with young puppies is crucial to developing a strong bond with people and brings out the breeds social nature with humans.
Playing with young pups strengthens their drive and teaches them how to correctly interact with people when playing or working.
We start properly socializing pups with children at around 4 - 5 weeks of age. Our pups leave for their new homes with a great start in life from positive human interaction and proper health care.
