Our breed is amongst the first contingent of breeds widely banned, confiscated and euthanized. Owners of other breeds may not get caught in the first wave of the ban, but as the Reverend Martin Niemoeller said about Hitler and the Nazis:

The American Pit Bull Terrier, once widely adored and viewed as a canine hero, has now become misunderstood, feared, and even hated, being labeled as dangerous dogs that people should be stripped away of their rights to own and it's happening. He is a family pet, a loyal companion and working dog, not the monster that has been created from distorted truth in the minds of those unknowledgeable about the breed. If you would like to learn more about the temperament of the American Pit Bull Terrier, which has a passing rate on temperament tests higher than many other breeds including many of the so called "family breeds", you can view the passing scores for all breeds on the
A real A.P.B.T. does not have to bite someone to get blamed for it. Other breeds or mixes are often categorized together as "pit bulls" or "pit bull type dogs". If it has even a slight resemblance to an A.P.B.T., it gets labeled as one. This significantly raises "Pit Bull" dog bite statistics without the actual breed even being involved.

We need to do all we can to make sure that our dogs are properly and securely confined so incidents don't happen and we represent our dogs in a positive way. The media is very quick to jump all over a "Pit Bull" bite story but when another breed bites someone, the media attention is often far from equal. Today, many A.P.B.T.'s are ending up in the wrong hands.
One of the best things we can do to protect this breed is to be responsible with our own dogs!!

"In Germany they came first for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up."
